Job Description

Role Brief We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Money Services Squad . This team is responsible for architecting, optimizing, and ensuring the high availability and scalability of the money services system , which is one of our core financial services . Our mission is to centralize and automate all financial operations and money movements, processing hundreds of thousands of transactions daily while providing seamless integration with internal and external financial systems and ledgers, ensuring reliability, scalability, and ease of use through simplified APIs. As a key contributor, you will build systems that abstract financial complexities such as reconciliation, dual writing, and failure handling, empowering both engineering and non-engineering teams to focus on their core functions without financial concerns. What You'll Do Engaging in the Shaping Phase Joining feature shaping sessions before the feature is added to our development cycle. Contributing to Feature Flow diagrams. Participating in feature onboarding prior to or during sprint planning. Collaborating on Code Discovery sessions when planning the features. Collaborating with internal teams for seamless integration with our services. Engaging in the Shipping Phase Developing and maintaining our running services. Integrating user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic. Debugging and fixing bugs. Writing tests. Addressing customer-reported bugs and helping support during your on-call time. Optimizing our current services for high scale. Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code. Designing and implementing low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications. Implementing security and data protection measures. Designing and implementing data storage solutions (PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.). Building reusable code and libraries for future use. Monitoring and troubleshooting transaction issues, ensuring robust failure handling. What You'll Need Previous experience with Python, JavaScript, Java, or Go. Familiarity with ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries. Familiarity with event-driven programming. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Experience with containerized solutions (i.e., Docker). Experience in a production environment. Good knowledge of RESTful API design. Experience working with other engineers on product features. Experience in an agile process. Computer Science or similar degree background. Able to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system. Understanding of accessibility and security compliance. Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments. Understanding of fundamental design principles behind scalable applications. Solid database knowledge and experience. Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes. Strong unit testing and debugging skills. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git). Experience with AWS. Who Are We?
