About our team: Immigration | Immigration Compliance Operations | Field Operations, Sponsor Monitoring and Removal Operations. We have a number of vacancies within our Sponsor Monitoring, Field Operations, and Removal Operations branches within the Australian Border Force in Darwin. These work areas contribute to managing and upholding the integrity of Australia's migration program. ABOUT SPONSOR MONITORING UNIT (SMU) SMU NT plays a critical field-based regulatory compliance role within a high profile and politically sensitive migration program. Specifically, the SMU ensures the integrity and success of the Temporary Skilled and other Temporary Activities visa programs by ensuring legislative requirements are being met under the Migration Act 1958. SMU officers investigate and case manage complex contraventions of sponsorship obligations by approved sponsoring employers of temporary migrant workers. ABOUT FIELD OPERATIONS Field Operations conduct a range of intelligence informed and risk-based operations that improve the level of compliance with immigration laws. They locate and detain unlawful non-citizens who are identified as a risk to the safety of the community or who pose a threat to the integrity of Australia's visa system. ABOUT REMOVAL OPERATIONS The job role of a Removal Officer encompasses a range of duties and activities that include the safe and lawful removal of unlawful non-citizens (UNCs) from Australia under the Migration Act 1958. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, maintain and apply knowledge of relevant legislation and policies primarily under the Migration Act 1958. Undertake moderately complex to complex tasks and case management independently. Supervise a small team of officers (some positions have supervisory responsibilities). Plan, prepare and conduct compliance and enforcement activities. Communicate effectively with a wide variety of clients and stakeholders. Manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations. Identify risk and conduct effective and ongoing risk management. Adhere to record keeping requirements in departmental record management systems. Additional Information: ROLE REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS Meet operational readiness requirements (medical, fitness, psychometric testing). Be a sworn officer (ABF oath or affirmation). Be uniformed (unless the position requires business attire). Obtain and maintain an Employee Suitability Clearance (ESC) and an Australian Government security clearance. Some positions may require work outside of business hours. MANDATORY CORE CAPABILITIES Demonstrate capabilities, skills and knowledge as described by the Integrated Leadership System.
