Located alongside Royal North Shore Hospital, our teams incorporate scientific breakthroughs into clinical practice, directly improving patient care and the health of our community. The Chief Executive of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) and Executive Dean Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney are seeking three Clinical Research Fellows to be situated in the Northern Sydney Precinct to support and drive interdisciplinary research activity, as well as build internal research capacity and opportunities for research training of staff in and throughout the Precinct. The Northern Sydney Precinct collaboration between NSLHD and University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) is directed to three major goals, which underpin the strategic activities around and shared commitments to i) developing our students, ii) investing in our staff and iii) increasing access to clinical trials for our patients. The Precinct collaboration is supported by Academic Directors from FMH for Medicine/Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy, and Allied Health/Public Health. Each of the three Clinical Research Fellow positions (0.4 FTE for two years) will work directly with the Academic Directors to increase the capacity of the team to deliver research training and support and provide a research-active secondment/professional development opportunity for the Fellows to apply research skills, upskill their research training and successfully compete for funding to drive and sustain dedicated research projects. The program represents an exciting opportunity for research-focused NSW Health medical, nursing & midwifery, allied health, pharmacy, dental or oral health clinicians currently working in the Northern Sydney Local Health District to develop and apply their expertise in research methodologies, design and delivery to contribute to the University's/NSLHD’s standing as a national leader in the discipline/service. This opportunity will be offered at level B, Clinical Research Fellow or Level C, Senior Clinical Research Fellow, depending on the skills and experience. Your key responsibilities will be to: Work directly with the Northern Sydney Precinct Academic Directors Apply and refine expertise in research methodologies Undertake original research (either independently or as part of a team) Participate in career development opportunities Liaise and work closely with senior academics and professional staff Effectively communicate, negotiate, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders Successfully compete for funding to drive and sustain dedicated research projects Establish interdisciplinary research activity across the precinct Provide research mentoring and support to staff Produce relevant research projects around functional wellbeing Build and maintain a reputation for academic excellence, to expand knowledge and practice. About you Hold or be near completion of a PhD or have appropriate qualifications for enrolment Hold an existing salaried appointment in the relevant field within Northern Sydney LHD Demonstrate a commitment to developing a research career and undertaking health services research Demonstrate a promising track record of impactful research and publications in their field Demonstrate a strong track record of effectively working in and across interdisciplinary teams, industry and professional institutions, health partners, and stakeholders Have excellent project management skills, including time and workload management Have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and work cross-culturally Experienced in undertaking research in collaborative environments with a range of stakeholders including researchers, clinicians, and/or policy makers Have high-level research methods skills, including analytical and writing, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
