Who we are Drug Health Services (DHS) aims to reduce the harms associated with substance use for individuals, families and communities and to prevent drug misuse. Our Mission is to deliver evidence based and patient centred care in collaboration with other health and non-health partners to improve the health outcomes of individuals, their families and broader community. Services are provided at Canterbury, Concord Repatriation General and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals and at Canterbury, Marrickville and Redfern Health Centres. Selected programs offer services in community and via approved outreach arrangements. About the Opportunity The Manager, MERIT and Counselling Programs, supports the following models: The Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) program is a voluntary, pre-plea program for adults in the Local Court who have issues related to their alcohol and other drug use. MERIT provides access to a wide range of alcohol and other drug treatment services for 12 weeks while court matters are adjourned. MERIT has operated since 2000 and is currently available at 62 of the 137 Local Courts in NSW, locally at Burwood and Newtown Courts. DHS provides a range of counselling and psychological interventions in a safe and caring environment. The Counselling Program offers comprehensive assessment and outpatient counselling services to individuals and families who are seeking help to reduce drug and alcohol related harm. A range of modalities including telehealth, videoconferencing and face to face delivery options are available. In this role, you will be providing senior clinical leadership and support clinical operations for Counselling and MERIT programs including liaison with the Local Courts and state-wide MERIT teams to determine client eligibility and negotiate admission to the MERIT program. Ideal Candidate Must hold a Bachelor degree in:Social Work or equivalent that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers with experience at level 2 or higher OR Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in counselling or a related field or must hold a minimum of a bachelor degree in a relevant field e.g. community welfare, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer with experience at Level 2 or higher OR Must hold tertiary qualifications in psychology and be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and significant clinical experience in the provision of services to patients for substance use and related issues.
