About the Role: This position is open to Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and Psychologists. This position is primarily located within the Older Persons Community Mental Health Team (OPMHCT) but staff may be required to work across all of Adult Community Mental Health Services to meet operational demands. OPMHCT is a multi-disciplinary team of Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Psychiatry Registrars, Consultant Psychiatrists, and Administration Service Officers. The OPMHCT operates across the Australian Capital Territory, adhering to the OPMHCT model of care. OPMHCT provides specialist advice, expertise, consultation to other health care providers, plus a range of interventions including assessment, advice, advocacy, short term treatment and interventions, intensive or assertive outreach treatment, clinical management, physical health review, care coordination and case review. This is a senior clinical position that will provide mental health services to people who present with highly complex mental health conditions, including the provision of advanced assessment, recovery planning, clinical coordination and therapeutic interventions to achieve sound outcomes for people, under minimal supervision. The successful applicant will conduct assessments and deliver face-to-face care and treatment to clients to enable the person to improve in social and other areas of functioning, require less hospital admissions and engage more actively in treatment. The participation of the people who use the service, including families and carers, is encouraged in all aspects of a person’s care and you will work in partnership with a range of government and non-government service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. The applicant will be encouraged to fulfill the role of Mental Health Officer, executing processes under the MH Act. At this level, the successful applicant will provide high quality interventions and achieve sound outcomes for people under limited supervision, contribute to the multidisciplinary team processes, undertake professional development and professional supervision including the provision of supervision to staff at level HP1 & HP2, Allied Health Assistants and students, and participate in quality initiatives and strategic planning.
