We are seeking a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer with a strong background in both project delivery and operations . The ideal candidate will come from a Senior Systems Engineer or Senior Project Engineer role, with proven experience in managing cloud solutions, technical project implementation, and day-to-day operational support. This role requires a blend of hands-on expertise, strategic consulting, and client-facing skills . The candidate must have a cloud-first approach , be highly self-motivated , and be ready to respond to critical services when required. An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident is required due to compliance and security requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute cloud infrastructure projects from design to deployment. Work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud solutions . Develop and maintain Landing Zones and cloud governance frameworks. Contribute to technical designs, proposals, and solution roadmaps. Cloud Operations & Service Management Manage and maintain cloud environments with a focus on Microsoft Cloud Services : Networking: ExpressRoute, Virtual WAN, Application Gateway, Front Door. Data Services: Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake. Identity & Security: App Registration, Modern Authentication, Zero Trust frameworks. Oversee the performance, security, and compliance of Microsoft 365 applications (Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint). Ensure high availability, proactive monitoring , and system reliability across all cloud environments. Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Implement automation solutions using Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep, and CI/CD pipelines . Optimise cloud resource provisioning and operational efficiencies. Technical Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution Proactively identify and resolve cloud infrastructure issues before they impact service. Perform in-depth root cause analysis and implement corrective measures. Apply a security-first mindset , ensuring best practices are followed. Client Management & Stakeholder Engagement Act as a trusted advisor to clients, translating business requirements into technical solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to align cloud strategy with business needs . Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise Strong experience in Microsoft Azure , Microsoft 365, and hybrid cloud solutions. Deep understanding of cloud networking, security frameworks, and data services . Hands-on experience with Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep, and CI/CD pipelines . Advanced support experience in Windows and Linux operating systems . Experience with Landing Zone Architecture (preferred but not mandatory). Project & Operational Experience Proven background in both project delivery and operational support . Ability to lead cloud transformation projects and maintain ongoing operations. Strong ITIL and change management experience within an MSP or consulting environment. Professional Attributes Client-Facing & Communication Skills: Ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Problem-Solving Mindset: Strong troubleshooting skills and proactive approach to issue resolution. Self-Learning & Initiative: Keen to stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies. Team Collaboration: Ability to work with project teams, architects, and service desk teams. Requirements Citizenship/Residency: Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (required for compliance purposes). Experience: 8+ years in an MSP, consulting, or IT services environment as a Senior Systems Engineer or Senior Project Engineer . Certifications: Microsoft 365: MS-100, MS-500 . Security & Automation: Terraform Associate, CISSP (optional but beneficial). Work Style: Hybrid work model with occasional client site visits.
