ABOUT THE ROLE Full Time Fixed Term (12 month role) Band 6: $92,535 + 11.5% superannuation Flexible / hybrid work arrangements available Are you experienced in supporting the safety of our local community? We have an exciting opportunity to join us as our Senior Community Safety Officer for the next 12 months. This pivotal role is committed to ensuring the wellbeing of the community through proactive measures and enforcement of safety regulations. The Senior Community Safety Officer oversees: community safety prosecutions leading children’s crossing supervision program community education supports the operations of the team including Council’s animal shelter This role will lead and deliver Council’s prosecution process in relation to unresolved enforcement actions, while also building cooperative relationships with the community, interpreting and applying relevant legislation and using a customer-centric approach to education, negotiation and conflict management skills to resolve problems. You will have knowledge of the relevant regulations and legislation that support this work. ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will: have a Certificate IV in Animal Management/Local Government/Statutory Compliance, or experience in a similar field be qualified, or prepared to qualify as an Assistant Municipal Fire Prevention Officer have experience in dealing with the court system and prosecution processes relating to local government is an advantage be confident to prepare briefings of evidence in relation to prosecutions at the Magistrates Court and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal have a high level of communication skills and diligence for detail have a customer focus when managing a range of external stakeholders be willing to work collaboratively to achieve the goals of the Community Safety team not be afraid to jump in wherever help is needed, including being on call and able to respond to emergency call outs.
