About our team Australian Government Consulting (AGC) was established to help the Australian Public Service (APS) confidently meet current and future challenges in-house, and selectively engage external consultants in a way that maximises value-for-money. We do this by delivering high-quality consulting projects that reflect our distinctive character as government consultants working for public impact (and nothing else). We use consulting methods and deep knowledge of government to deliver: strategy and policy organisational performance service delivery design buying better from external consultants. Situated within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, we work in partnership with APS agencies on a wide range of high-profile issues that make a real difference to the wellbeing of Australians. What you’ll be doing We are looking for exceptionally talented management consultants who are inspired by our mission to deliver public impact. You will work with a high-performing team to deliver management consultancy projects for Australian Public Service clients. As an APS 6 Senior Consultant, you will: Work closely with clients and AGC leadership to apply AGC’s consulting methodologies and deliver high quality projects aligned to our strategic policy and organisational transformation service lines. Skilfully engage with diverse stakeholders inside and outside of government. Apply strong critical and strategic thinking and an entrepreneurial mind-set. Apply structured problem-solving techniques to policy and organisational challenges, facilitate workshops and interviews, analyse data and deliver meaningful results. Analyse key resources to generate meaningful insights and recommendations for clients. Develop and deploy your subject matter expertise across AGC’s service offer. As an EL 1 Manager, you will: Work closely with partners and clients to drive and deliver end-to-end high quality strategic consulting projects that meet client needs, aligned to AGC’s strategic policy and organisational transformation service lines. Manage client relationships and skilfully engage with key stakeholders to influence outcomes. Provide thought leadership across AGC to refine and expand AGC’s service offer, while lending your expertise to other project teams and proposing innovative ideas and solutions to drive AGC forward. Apply strong critical and strategic thinking and an entrepreneurial mind-set. Apply structured problem-solving techniques to policy and organisational challenges, facilitate workshops and interviews, analyse data and deliver meaningful results. Manage and mentor AGC staff in a positive and uplifting manner, contributing to AGC’s culture and capability. Why you’re the ideal candidate Our ideal candidate will perform at the level in accordance with the PM&C Performance model and will bring: Experience in a consulting or advisory environment that aligns with our strategic policy and organisational transformation service offerings. Experience planning, managing and delivering complex, fast-paced projects. A passion for making a difference and challenging the status-quo. The ability to think critically and bring a strategic and innovative mind-set to identify and solve problems. The ability to engage internal and external audiences to secure outcomes. Flexibility and resilience to work autonomously and at pace to deliver results in sometimes uncertain and high-pressure work environments. The ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels.
