Based at our Elgar Road Campus, Box Hill Ongoing opportunity PACCT 8 $103,461.98 per annum (exclusive of superannuation) About the role: The Senior Counsellor is responsible for managing and providing a range of counselling and mental health support services to students to facilitate successful learning outcomes and to manage the diverse life influences which impact their engagement and progress with their learning. This role coordinates a range of support services, strategies, and modes including face-to-face counselling, mental health check-ups, e-counselling, group programs, project work, and teamwork with other employees. The Senior Counsellor supervises the work of the Student Counsellors and also provides support to the Student Life team where required. The Student Life Team works cooperatively with students and teachers to provide an engaging, positive, and supportive learning community enabling high student retention and success, where the student voice is heard and is reflected positively internally and to prospective students and clients. About You: Registration with AHPRA to practice as a Psychologist in Victoria OR Membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or equivalent A relevant qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent with demonstrated professional competency in counselling, education, clinical, or a related area Demonstrated case-work experience in counselling, including experience relevant to VET such as senior or post-secondary students, cross-cultural, youth at risk, cognitive-behavioural, mental or learning disorders, general life-management, and critical incidents. Ability to implement measures necessary to meet the legal, professional, and policy requirements of delivering counselling services in an education and training context, including OHS, privacy, duty of care, and recordkeeping requirements. Demonstrated ability and experience in leading a team in serving diverse areas and needs, including planning, supporting, and reporting on coordinated services; providing support and guidance to others in challenging contexts. Clearly and confidently communicates with people at all levels of the organisation. Handles difficult and sensitive communications well. Negotiates agreed actions to deal with problems. Listens to, and acknowledges that the concerns of others have been heard, clarifying the problems and seeking options to resolve.
