Job Description - Senior Electrical Designer/ Drafter - Primary Systems (262962) Senior Electrical Designer/ Drafter - Primary Systems - 262962 UGL’S Utilities team designs, constructs and maintains critical infrastructure across the power, water and renewable sectors. Ranging from HV Substations and Transmission Lines up to 500kV to power stations and wastewater treatment plants. We design and construct the following assets; substations, transmission lines, power generation, electrical distribution networks, water and waste water treatment plants and water pipelines. UGL is currently looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Designer/Drafter (Primary Systems) to become a key member of the Power Utilities teams based in Brisbane. You will lead and deliver quality, standard compliant engineering documentation and be responsible for the production of design deliverables under direction from senior engineering staff. About the Role Reporting to the Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Primary Systems), Team Lead Engineer (Primary Systems) will be responsible but not limited to: To prepare engineering documentation as directed To apply established engineering principles and standards in the design and preparation of drawings To ensure drawings are comprehensively set out and fully dimensioned with reasonable tolerances to facilitate effective construction or manufacture using normally available equipment and processes To prepare drawings to budgeted hours and timeframes as directed To perform basic engineering design calculations to facilitate accuracy of detail designs To ensure that engineering documentation is effectively identified and filed To check the drawings prepared by other draftspersons To prepare material take offs from drawings as required Monitors budgets and schedule for the areas under their control. Job Purpose Provide conceptual and detailed design of HV Substations up to 500kV for major utilities and renewables projects including BESS, solar and wind farms and also providing support on Transmission Line projects. Key areas of substation design: Substation Configuration and Busbar Config (Single, double, 1.5CB scheme, etc …) Plant layouts, sections, and details Busbars and Connections (Fittings, Busbar Selection (Rigid, Strung), S/C Forces, Gantry forces, Sags/ Tension/ Deflection, Arrangement) Clearances and Layouts (Safety, Fire, Transportation and Maintenance) Underground Services (Trenches/ Conduits/Cable routes capacity) Earthing services (Main Grid/Tails) Transformer/Reactor Bund design and details Understanding of HV equipment/Buildings specification and technical particulars. About You Qualifications: Relevant Tertiary Qualification, Diploma status in engineering Construction Safety Awareness Training Skills & Experience Required: You will have a minimum of 10 years of proven skills in problem solving and effective communication, the ability to meet established deadlines and have experience with Microsoft Office whilst demonstrating: Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based Experience of working in a project coordination role for CAD/BIM applications Excellent communications skills both written and verbal Excellent organisational skills Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information Self-motivated and able to take responsibility Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure while remaining calm and professional at all times Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team Flexible attitude Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally Experience and working knowledge of the following software applications: Bentley Substation & Microstation V8i Other discipline-specific software and CAD tools as required (eg.
