The role As the Senior Environment Officer, you will form part of a dynamic team responsible for assessing strategic resource projects of State significant to achieve the Department’s timeframes for assessments of resource projects, providing high level specialist and technical advice and monitoring industry performance, compliance, including inspections and providing advice internally and externally on State significant projects including State Agreements. Additionally, this role is also responsible for preparing reports, documents, correspondence and decisions in relation to assessment of complex applications, carrying out the duties of an inspector and undertaking and managing inspections, compliance assessments, investigations of resource projects to monitor for compliance with legislative requirements of the industry, mentoring and coaching staff members, preparing technical advice and assisting in drafting guidance for industry and other stakeholders, and participating in divisional training programs relevant to the position. Significant knowledge and field experience in environmental management practices including the assessment of environmental aspects and risks associated with mining and/or petroleum development activities. Significant demonstrated experience in preparing reports on complex environmental assessments, investigations and/or analytical research.
