The Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Financial and Management Accountant to provide crucial support in maintaining the integrity of the NSW health system. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an independent statutory body with a mission to protect the health and wellbeing of the community.ABOUT THE ROLE As a Senior Financial and Management Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of the HCCC. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial and management accounting services, delivering accurate and timely financial reports, and supporting decision-making processes through detailed financial analysis.Key Responsibilities: Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of statutory financial reports, in compliance with NSW Treasury directives, relevant accounting standards and taxation requirements, while coordinating external audits and ensuring adherence to statutory obligations. Lead the budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis processes to monitor financial performance, control income and expenditure, and provide expert insights to support strategic decision-making by senior leadership. Provide expert financial advice and oversight on procurement activities, ensuring adherence to established policies and maximizing value for money while managing relationships with outsourced service providers and ensuring compliance with Treasury requirements. Prepare and present financial reports to internal and external stakeholders, including monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and special financial reports, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational and Treasury guidelines. Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations and statutory obligations, promoting sound financial governance and managing risks. Lead initiatives focused on process transformation and system enhancements within the finance function, driving efficiency and accuracy in financial administration and aligning with organizational objectives. Oversee the management of cash flow and financial risks, ensuring compliance with tax obligations and advising on risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization's financial stability. Provide leadership and expert financial advice to the finance team, supporting professional development, overseeing performance, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards. ABOUT YOU: Relevant tertiary qualifications: A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with eligibility for membership in a recognized professional accounting body, such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) . Demonstrated experience: Experience in management accounting, financial reporting, and compliance within the public sector including a deep understanding of statutory obligations and NSW Government financial management frameworks. Proficiency in large ERP systems: Preferably SAP , with hands-on experience in financial reporting, budget management, and variance analysis at a divisional or organizational level. Proven ability: To prepare financial statements, manage accruals, and address complex financial challenges, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills: With the ability to effectively engage with senior stakeholders, provide expert financial advice, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Autonomous decision-making capabilities: With the ability to work independently and ensure high-quality financial outputs in alignment with organizational goals and reporting deadlines. WHAT WE OFFER: Fantastic ongoing opportunity Salary range of $125,694 - $138,511 (Clerk Grade 9/10) plus superannuation and annual leave loading. We play a critical role in protecting public health safety by investigating and resolving complaints about health practitioners and services in NSW.
