Senior Investigator, Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) Employment Type: Ongoing & Non-ongoing (for an initial period of up to 12 months) Classification: Executive Level 1 ($126,342 - $143,993) This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate. Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years. A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement. Flexible Work: Flexible working arrangements will be considered. The Opportunity: ORIC’s Investigations Section undertakes investigations relating to alleged or suspected breaches of the CATSI Act and manages related civil and criminal prosecutions. The Senior Investigator will be part of a multi-skilled team who achieves successful investigation and prosecution outcomes. As a Senior Investigator, you would generally be required to undertake work that is very complex or sensitive and operate under broad direction. Employees at this level exercise a considerable degree of independence, perform a leadership role, exercise sound decision making and judgement to produce high level policy advice. A Senior Investigator would be required to engage in complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and undertake detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency. They would also be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships within and outside the agency and may manage one or more work teams. The Senior Investigator will work directly with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) to secure criminal enforcement outcomes and liaise with solicitors to achieve successful civil penalties and other outcomes on behalf of the Registrar. The Senior Investigator will be required to travel and work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people around Australia, including in remote communities. Our Ideal Candidate: Our ideal candidate will be expected to have the following: Understand the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and a wide variety of individuals in a range of contexts. Be willing and available to travel to remote, rural and urban centres. Have a minimum of a Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Investigations. A degree in forensic accounting/accounting or law is desirable. Identified Position: This position is Identified which signifies that the role has strong involvement in matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This position is required to liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers. You will require cultural competency. Eligibility: To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen.
