Job Description

Legal Aid Queensland are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join the Civil Law team in a permanent capacity. Located in Brisbane, the successful applicant will provide specialist legal services relating to Commonwealth benefits and social security appeals to financially disadvantaged people throughout Queensland. About the role As a Senior Lawyer - Social Security Appeals, you will assist vulnerable Queenslanders with issues regarding Commonwealth benefits and social security appeals. You will accept a leadership role in the organisations policy development, law reform initiatives and community education activities. You will assist the Principal Lawyer to train, guide and supervise the legal work of staff, initiate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to improve service delivery for clients and address systemic issues. About you You possess expert knowledge of Australian administrative appeals and merits review with a demonstrated ability to represent clients in complex cases. You can build and maintain relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
