Job Description

Higher Education Officer Level 8 | $106,842 - $118,281 p.a. The Senior Learning Designer is responsible for leading a team of Learning Designers to support, enhance and expand educational technologies across the University, with a focus on the delivery of fully online courses on Flinders Learning Online. The Senior Learning Designer leads the creation and development of innovative learning materials and activities. Using their expertise in pedagogy and technical expertise, they will collaborate with academic staff to co-develop engaging and effective courses. The Senior Learning Designer will lead the implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance digital learning development, including identifying opportunities, developing briefs, coordinating stakeholder interests, implementation, and evaluation of projects. The Learning Designer will also: Provide leadership and support to a team of Learning Designers operating across Colleges and teams delivering University-wide projects. Provide high-level learning design expertise to academic staff who are developing educational resources including the design of learning activities, and assessment strategies, choosing appropriate distribution media, and designing student learning support strategies. Maintain an up-to-date and high-level understanding of current and emerging educational technologies, as well as digital learning theories, models, and practices. About You As the successful Senior Learning Designer, you will have excellent leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills, allowing you to support your team to success, prioritise tasks and support course development across multiple disciplines. You will have excellent interpersonal skills which will facilitate excellent negotiation and collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders. Additionally, you will demonstrate excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities. To be successful in this position, you will also demonstrate: Extensive experience in designing and developing learning environments using an institutional learning management system and the interpretation and application of relevant policies and procedures. Broad to extensive knowledge of teaching and learning theory and practice, curriculum development, educational design and evaluation, and the effective use of learning technologies in an educational context. High-level project management skills and the ability to work on high level significant strategic initiatives, exercise initiative and judgement, establish priorities, problem solve and meet deadlines.
