Opportunity for a Senior Lecturer – Medical Education to provide teaching, coordination, support, and leadership for the Sydney Medical Program in Orange, NSW Part-time fixed term until 31 December 2026 at the School of Rural Health in Orange. Base salary of $150,461 - $173,492 + 17% superannuation + full clinical loading About the opportunity The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long-term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 years. In 2022, The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams; a Metropolitan stream based on the University’s Camperdown campus in Sydney, and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo. A position is available for a Senior Lecturer (Clinical Education) - Medical Education in Orange who will undertake a range of duties related to the implementation of the curriculum as well as teaching and learning activities. This position includes supervision of students, coordination and management of academic staff and tutors, and a leadership role within the program. Based in Orange, limited travel between rural and metropolitan sites is a requirement of this position and therefore a driver’s license is required. Some out-of-hours work is also required in this role. Your key responsibilities will be to: contribute to outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation, and outcomes. contribute to scholarship and apply clinical knowledge and expertise for improved student outcomes. actively contribute to the research, education, and administrative activities of the discipline, School, and Faculty. provide academic oversight and support the Head of Clinical School at the School of Rural Health in Orange. lead and manage staff and tutors. support pastoral care needs of students at the School of Rural Health in Orange. support the orientation and induction of students and staff to the workplace and surrounding region. fulfil governance and compliance requirements of the Sydney Medical Program Doctor of Medicine and the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMT) / Murray Darling Medical Schools Program Parameters. About you Bachelor of Medicine (MB)/Doctor of Medicine (MD)/Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution. PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications relevant to graduate medical education. Recognition as a Fellow of the relevant Australasian medical specialist college or equivalent as recognized by Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency (AHPRA), e.g. FANZCA, FRACP, FRACS, FRANZCP, FACEM, FRANZCOG, FRACGP. Current registration with AHPRA or equivalent professional bodies (where relevant). Demonstrated influence in applying clinical expertise to innovation in pedagogy and adult education. Demonstrable applied understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices in the discipline. Deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in an established Medical Program. Leadership experience in a team-teaching environment as well as leading education activities to successful outcomes. Significant experience in supervising and managing others. Demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to, rural health. Demonstrable broad knowledge of the Australian Healthcare system.
