About the role Santos is seeking a strategic and experienced leader to head up our corporate Environmental Consultation and Approvals, Cultural Heritage, and Land Access and Tenure management function, based in our Adelaide Head Office location. This key leadership role will lead our central corporate team and work with the regional teams in the company's operations in Australia, Timor Leste, PNG, and Alaska. The role provides technical advice, governance and oversight to ensure compliance with our management system standards and regulatory requirements and ensures effective delivery of required environmental approvals and land access requirements - in alignment with our values. As Senior Manager Access & Approvals - you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and functional leadership to support the achievement of Santos' objectives. This includes maintaining high standards of environmental consultation, approvals, and access issues management throughout all stages of our exploration, development, and production operations. Key Responsibilities: Establish and uphold clear standards for environmental, cultural heritage and land access performance, ensuring alignment with Santos policies, management systems, and legislative and regulatory requirements. Collaborate cross-functionally to foster a culture of compliance, safety, and environmental stewardship. Provide subject matter expertise and functional leadership in environmental approvals, land access, and cultural heritage management, and monitor industry and regulatory changes. Govern all environmental, cultural heritage and land access processes, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives. Develop and deliver reports and updates on areas relevant to the function to Santos executive management and the Board’s Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Committee. Lead the Adelaide based functional team and drive continuous improvement in environmental, cultural heritage management and land access practices. About You Extensive demonstrated experience in leading large corporate teams in the Environmental, Health, and Safety field, ideally within the oil and gas or energy transition sector. Proven leadership in the development of strategic policy planning, particularly around Indigenous issues and land access. In-depth knowledge of Indigenous cultural heritage management, with significant experience working with governments or within Indigenous communities. Strong background in managing land access processes and navigating complex regulatory landscapes. Tertiary qualifications in law, environmental science, natural resource management, sustainability, or a related field. Ability to drive change initiatives, engage stakeholders, and collaborate with diverse teams to achieve shared goals. Proficient in setting challenging targets and delivering results, using data analysis and processes to identify and address weaknesses.
