Full time, permanent position Geelong, Southwest Coast VIA (based in Melbourne CBD temporarily) Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre – Senior Manager Event & Venue Operations We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager – Event & Venue Operations to support the General Manager – Nyaal Banyul in delivering strategic goals for Nyaal Banyul and the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET). This role provides high-level administrative and project coordination while engaging with senior government, community, and corporate leaders. It requires exceptional communication, initiative, discretion, and confidentiality. About Nyaal Banyul Set to open in 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront, Nyaal Banyul will be Australia’s newest convention and event centre. Operated by the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET), this premier venue features a 1,000-seat theatre and 3,700 square meters of versatile event space, ready to host everything from community gatherings to major conferences and entertainment events. About the Role Report directly to the General Manager Nyaal Banyul; this role will enhance the customer experience through the delivery of seamless event and venue services. Focus on people capability, team leadership, and collaboration with internal departments. Support project readiness for venue opening. Lead the day-to-day operation of Nyaal Banyul, providing strong and visible leadership. Drive engagement and collaboration with internal departments to plan and coordinate key event elements. Drive a culture of codifying processes, procedures, and guidelines. Keep abreast of all event operations related regulations and/or legislation. Lead continual operational improvements to drive productivity, efficiency, and service excellence. Set the tone for exceptional customer experience and guide and develop the Event & Venue Operations teams in customer relations matters. Drive operational efficiency and contribute to the Sales strategy, supporting the onsite Sales team in converting business and driving revenue targets. Participate in budget and forecasting meetings and manage Divisional expenses according to the budget. About You: Demonstrated experience in the management of event operations, particularly related to large scale events. A successful track record in interpreting event information and leading large, diverse teams to deliver to client, customer, and visitor expectations. Sound conceptual and analytical skills together with a proven track record of strategically managing operations within budget requirements.
