All while staying committed to our member first ethos as a proud Industry Fund.About the role The Senior Manager - Insurance Pricing role is integral to the Insurance team, reporting directly to the Head of Insurance Pricing & Relationships. This position involves assisting in the management of the PSM Pricing program, ensuring effective insurance pricing and reserve management for all membership segments. The role requires handling actuarial activities related to membership, premiums, and claims, and providing necessary data to both the insurer and an independent actuary.A key aspect of the role is supporting deep dive analyses of periodic actuarial claims experience reviews and where relevant participating in proposals for industry tenders. The Senior Manager will also contribute to the development of insurance-related policies and complete significant insurance pricing projects and initiatives. Effective stakeholder management, both internal and external, is crucial for this role.Additionally, the Senior Manager is expected to contribute to the strategic planning and direction of the insurance function and the Member Experience division. This involves working closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of insurance projects and initiatives, aligning with the overall strategic goals of the organization.This is a permanent role based in either Melbourne or Sydney and has 1 direct report.Key Accountabilities Manage the PSM pricing program: Oversee insurance pricing for all membership segments and set premium rates. Liaise with the insurer: Obtain proposals for insurance pricing. Collaborate with the Finance team: Manage the Insurance reserve according to policy. Ensure accurate premium payments: Work with IFS IS for monthly payments and reconciliations. Support governance forums: Participate in various forums with TAL, including claims review, risk management, IT security, and strategy planning. Contribute with Communications and Insurance teams as a subject matter expert for print and web insurance materials. Contribute to policy and strategy: Work with the Public Affairs team on insurance-related policies. Support the Claims Reduction program: Provide operational support for the program. Participate in insurance projects: Work with the Head of Insurance Pricing & Relationships and the leadership team on initiatives. Strategic planning: Contribute to the strategic direction for the MEX Group. Due diligence for mergers and tenders: Conduct assessments and support implementation. Reporting: Produce reports for senior management. What we're looking for Educational Background : Tertiary qualification in actuarial or a business-related discipline. Professional Qualification : Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia or equivalent. Experience : Demonstrated actuarial experience, preferably with a superannuation fund or insurer. Analytical Skills : Advanced skills to synthesize complex information for strategic decision-making. Project Management : Proven experience in managing projects.
