The Senior Manager of Product Stewardship is charged with establishing and leading a new Product Stewardship function within Convatec, responsible for maintaining product and raw material data relevant to international chemical, environmental, and safety regulations, as well as environmental sustainability metrics. This leader will identify and implement state-of-the-art methodologies for monitoring global legislation and standards, and assembling databases required to assure compliance. The team under this individual’s leadership will provide insights and information to a range of internal and external stakeholders and will be accountable to develop, implement and direct efficient process solutions to support commercial needs, design and development processes, and sustainability initiatives for new and existing products and markets. Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Intelligence Establish and maintain current knowledge of chemical, environmental, and safety legislation and standards which apply to Convatec’s products in key global markets. This scope does not include medical device regulations. Monitor the regulatory landscape for new and emerging requirements and communicate necessary assessments to Convatec’s Standards Review Committee. Partner with Global Corporate Affairs to participate on trade groups, industry association task forces and working groups to support advocacy efforts. Information Management Setup and maintain a system for collecting raw material and product chemical, environmental, and safety compliance information, including the administration of material evaluation questionnaires. Develop and oversee an accurate and traceable database of product and raw material information. Serve as system owner for Convatec’s product data solution responsible for system implementation, maintenance, upgrades, and process improvements. Collaborate with Information Technology teams to integrate within the broader Convatec ecosystem. Develop efficient processes for responding to customer inquiries such as product composition questions, requests for compliance declarations, regulatory questionnaires, and the like. Provide commercial teams with product information required for contracts and tenders. Support material qualification and new product development processes, ensuring proposed product designs are compliant with current or upcoming regulations. Sustainability Develop systems to support Convatec’s sustainability strategy by maintaining carbon footprint data, and performing product and raw material life cycle assessments. Develop and maintain Green Design Guidelines and tools to inform sustainable product development. Skills & Experience: 7+ years’ experience within a product stewardship organization or experience with regulation interpretation and compliance. Knowledge of, and experience with, applicable Product Stewardship legislation including, but not limited to, REACH-like, RoHS-like, EU MDR, EU BPR, EU POPs, Cal Prop 65, EU General Product Safety Directive (GPSD), US Conflict Minerals, and EPR (WEEE, Battery, Packaging). Experience with evaluation, synthesis and communication of complex regulatory policy developments in a clear and effective manner. Strong “consultant” skills, including ability to influence and motivate leaders and employees through collaborative engagement and building/maintaining relationships. Ability to successfully manage and develop personnel in remote locations and work in a team environment across multi-site organizations. Qualifications/Education: Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering. Post-graduate degree (MS, MBA, PhD) is preferred.
