Senior Mechanical Engineer - Materials Handling Requisition ID: 282691 Relocation Authorized: None Telework Type: Part-Time Telework Work Location: Brisbane, QLD Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with good communication, leadership, and client interfacing skills, with demonstrated experience in delivery of greenfield and brownfield bulk materials handling plant. Experience in large slurry and water pump systems would be preferred. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Major Responsibilities: Perform design of mechanical systems for materials handling including pumps, conveyors, transfer chutes, bins, and feeders. Perform calculations and preliminary analysis leading to technical design recommendations. Preparation of material requisitions, specifications, and other procurement related documents. Assist in the evaluation of suppliers and technical bid evaluations. Coordinate with mechanical designers to produce layouts for crushing plants, screening plants, conveyors, and pump stations. Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Participate in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines. Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups. Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards. Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10 – 15 years of relevant experience. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline, and of engineering work planning and control methods. Computer skills including competence in MS Office suite and other common software. Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks. Analytical problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
