The Role: An exciting leadership role is available for an experienced Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Grade 3 to join the team at Northern Psychiatric Unit, and Occupational Therapists in the Mental Health Division of Northern Health. This role requires the Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to: Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and groups to people aged 16-65 and their families to achieve positive outcomes. Design, implement, and evaluate the therapeutic group program, which is a core intervention at NPU. Coordinate and capacity build multidisciplinary staff to support the utilisation of sensory assessments and interventions. Develop and maintain activity hubs within NPU to support a wide range of safe and meaningful activities for consumers. Work alongside a team of passionate Occupational Therapists including a lead occupational therapist (OT4), senior clinician (OT3), grade 2 occupational therapist, and new graduates. Work closely with the NPU team, sharing your clinical expertise and initiating quality initiatives and occupational-focused research. *Please note: If you are interested in a full-time OT3 role, please talk to us, as there may be potential to include Broadmeadows Psychiatric Unit within your role to facilitate a full-time position. To be successful in this role you will have: Extensive clinical mental health expertise and a passion for providing specialist occupational therapy services within an acute inpatient setting for consumers who have experienced serious mental health conditions and have complex needs. Interest and expertise in sensory modulation and group work. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lead development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational therapy services and quality initiatives. Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience. Demonstrated professionalism, clinical excellence, and a keen desire to learn. Ability to contribute effectively to multidisciplinary teams. Genuine commitment to embedding recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and co-design into practice.
