This is a full-time, fixed term position for 12 months with salary in the range $91,658.60 - $98,330.37 (HEW 6), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. Based at our St Lucia campus About This Opportunity Empower Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their academic goals at UQ. As Senior Officer, Student Success, you will play a crucial role in increasing recruitment, retention, and graduation rates, while providing essential advice and support. Key responsibilities will include: Student Support & Case Management Act as the primary contact for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, providing academic and personal support, and managing complex cases with appropriate referrals. Admissions & Pathways Advice Provide advice and guidance to prospective Indigenous students about pathways into tertiary education, including the UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Admission Scheme. Internal & External Engagement Collaborate with internal support services, the Indigenous student collective, and external organizations to enhance student opportunities and ensure culturally safe support. Program Support & Implementation Support the ITAR (Indigenous Tutorial Assistance and Retention) program, contribute to orientation programs and events, and promote initiatives addressing Indigenous student needs. Promotion & Communication Develop promotional materials, participate in outreach activities, and contribute to marketing and communication efforts. Data Management & Reporting Maintain student records, utilize digital platforms, and contribute to reporting on student success, including data analysis and reporting via UQ's systems. About You The University of Queensland considers that being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991(Qld) and the filling of this position constitutes a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth). The position is therefore only open to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Essential Degree or Advanced Diploma with at least 1 year relevant experience in student services/support. Intermediate computing skills (Microsoft365 Office suite). Proven ability to manage complex problems and situations within a culturally appropriate framework of practice. Highly organised, solution-focused, with proven ability to manage complex problems, prioritise, meet deadlines, and work independently or in a team. High-level written and verbal communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Demonstrated understanding of tertiary study opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Queensland tertiary education system and relevant UQ policies. Blue Card: Required possession of or eligibility to obtain a current blue card. Desirable Study or experience in any of the following areas would be highly desirable - Social work, counselling, case management, and/or mental health. You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
