Job Description
Job Title: Senior Petroleum Engineer - Inactive and Geothermal Wells Department: NT Government Department of Mines and Energy Location: Darwin Remuneration Package: $150,554 - $167,990 Closing Date: 22/02/2025 Job Summary: Perform regulatory assessments, provide advice and carry out monitoring and compliance activities as part of the regulation of the upstream and midstream petroleum and geothermal industries in the Northern Territory. Key Responsibilities: Lead the ongoing management, reporting, and monitoring of orphan wells, decommissioning or decommissioned wells across the NT. Conduct compliance and monitoring activities onsite, including overnight stays in remote locations. Review and assess notifications submitted under relevant legislation and conduct investigations on incidents as required. Develop policies, guidelines, and procedures for regulating petroleum and geothermal energy operations. Provide high-level professional advice to government and industry regarding petroleum wells. Prepare reports, memorandums, briefs, and complex correspondence as required. Lead and support a small team to deliver outcomes while being flexible with changing priorities. Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a tertiary degree in a relevant field of Engineering.
