The Role: Reporting to the Head of Policy, the Senior Policy Adviser will play a pivotal role in providing leading governance and corporate law expertise to the Governance and Policy Leadership Team. You'll drive policy development, provide thought leadership, and represent the organisation on a national and global stage. Key Responsibilities: Develop and advocate public policy positions on corporate governance and regulatory reform. Provide expert guidance on corporations law, including the application and compliance requirements of the Corporations Act 2001, with a focus on directors' duties, disclosure obligations, and regulatory compliance. Lead and deliver governance practice projects, including research, reports, and best practice guidance, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful results. Represent the organisation at external meetings, roundtables, conferences, and seminars to advance policy positions. Provide secretariat support to policy and advisory committees, including preparing agendas, briefing materials, and leading discussions on governance and legal issues. Analyse and research emerging governance practice issues and debates to inform policy and advocacy efforts. Develop and maintain strong networks with regulators, government bodies, legal experts, and governance professionals to influence governance policies and practices. Drive specific organisational projects aligned with strategic goals, providing insights and feedback for continuous improvement. Experience: Over 10 years’ experience in a relevant legal (Corporate), policy, regulatory, or advisory role. Extensive experience with the application and compliance requirements of the Corporations Act 2001, with a focus on directors' duties, disclosure obligations, and regulatory compliance. Proven knowledge of corporate governance practices and regulations. Exceptional writing skills for drafting reports, submissions, and presentations. A track record of working collaboratively and engaging with diverse stakeholders. A commitment to advancing governance excellence and fostering innovation. Relevant tertiary qualifications in law with a postgraduate qualification in governance is highly desirable.
