The Role We are seeking a talented and highly motivated candidate with experience in the development of multiple firming generation and energy storage projects during all stages of development, including battery storage and gas generation projects. This position can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle or Brisbane. Key responsibilities: Project manage the development of firming generation and energy storage projects from project inception to planning approval and provide support in the financial investment decision process. The Senior Project Manager has full accountability for the project, including working with a small team, preparing project schedules and reporting, managing budgets and consultants, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders. As a senior member of the Development Team, oversee and provide guidance to other Project Managers, support project partners, provide advice where required, review project plans, reports and risk assessments and assist in liaising with stakeholders and regulators where required. Conduct reviews of property agreements required for the projects in consultation with the legal team. Keep a watching brief on emerging firming and energy storage technologies to complement SQE’s variable renewable energy generation portfolio. Participate as required in prospecting for firming and storage projects, including providing advice and hands-on support to the project and prospecting teams with regards to data collection and feasibility reporting. Work with the Development and Technical Services teams to develop robust projects. Manage and support the consultation process with relevant planning authorities, regulators, general public, landowners, project partners and other stakeholders. About you You will have: Minimum of 7 years’ experience developing and managing utility scale renewable energy generation and storage projects and teams specifically in the Australian market. Strong understanding of the Australian energy market. Degree qualified in planning, engineering, finance, environmental science or related field (or equivalent). Experience in planning approvals. Previous experience within feasibility and due diligence of new opportunities and making recommendations for investment. Capacity to manage high stress situations. Collaborative management style and team building skills. Strong commercial acumen and leadership skills. Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously.
