About the OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Web Developer to join our Maritime Innovation team based at Tonsley, SA, reporting to the Principal Software Manager. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight. Working across all aspects of the Maritime Business, you will lead the focus on web development software engineering across all streams of allocated projects within the innovation portfolio. Key responsibilities include: Architect, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using modern frameworks and technologies to meet business and user requirements. Lead technical decision-making and code reviews, ensuring best practices, maintainability, and performance optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers, product managers, and backend engineers, to deliver high-quality solutions. Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge-sharing within the team. Ensure application security, performance, and reliability, implementing DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based solutions where applicable. Undertake all assigned software engineering activities, including related artifacts and project documentation, in accordance with identified project directives and BAE standards and commensurate with the lifecycle stage of the project. Provide status update information to relevant stakeholders. Perform software engineering tasks in accordance with the relevant software engineering plans. Lead a software delivery stream or technical scope with a heavy focus on web development technology. Develop project infrastructure, both hardware and software centric, such as tools deployment, metrics collection, code review and continually codebase development in both a traditional agile and waterfall method. Define and maintain elements of the project's software engineering plans and perform software engineering tasks in accordance with those plans. Manage and deliver relevant software releases (builds) through the engineering lifecycle. About YOU Degree Qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science or other appropriate technology qualifications. Experienced in design, development and/or sustainment of software products using relevant Software Engineering technologies. Experienced with capability to team lead software development methods including build planning, development management, software test, release certification and configuration management. Extensive exposure and skills in RESTful API design and integration. Sound skills with microservices architecture & containerisation, namely Docker/Kubernetes. Experience in best practice UI/UX and human centric software. Sound communication skills, including the ability to speak to various levels of stakeholders. Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain. Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
