In this role you will be responsible for the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs aimed at maximising the pipeline of future Paralympic Athletes through the newly formed QAS Para Unit. The QAS Para Unit will be run in collaboration with a wide range of Para sports and include para athletes from a pre-elite to categorised level.Your Contribution And Key Accountabilities Provide world-leading evidence-based strength and conditioning services and advice to Para coaches and QAS para unit athletes in line with each athlete's Individual Athlete Performance Plan (IAPP) which is aligned with their What It Takes to Win (WITTW) framework. Lead, manage and influence S&C coaching staff as required by the Head of Strength and Conditioning. This includes undertaking 1:1 meetings, setting and reviewing performance objectives, and supporting professional development needs with a particular focus on upskilling the QAS performance support workforce in working with para athletes. Deliver specific and relevant performance testing and tracking/monitoring for QAS categorised athletes, providing timely feedback to the coaches, athletes, and Performance Support team members. Contribute to the development of IAPPs and assist in regularly reviewing the associated specific development priorities and performance metrics to measure progress. Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary performance support team that creates a high performance environment to provide an integrated program based on the level and needs for QAS Para Unit athletes. This includes spending an appropriate amount of time in the daily training environment (DTE) and attending scheduled Performance Support team meetings. Regularly liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, such as Paralympics Australia, the QAS Talent and Coaching team, and other departments to collaboratively identify current sport-specific S&C trends to deliver high-quality integrated outcomes and work collaboratively with the wider Australian High Performance system (including State Institutes, AIS, International and Professional elite sport networks) to share knowledge and leverage opportunities, particularly with other state institute Para Units. Demonstrate high-level responsibility for the application of agreed National Quality Assurance Standards relating to data collection, methods, and equipment maintenance and utilise QAS approved systems for athlete programming, monitoring, reporting, and data management. Stay informed and abreast of current advancements in strength and conditioning training methodologies and technologies. This includes working collaboratively on approved applied research projects which contribute to the effectiveness of the coach and athlete in training and competition. As a member of the QAS team, take shared accountability for setting a high performance culture to enable successful outcomes. This also includes adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards at all times.
