About the OPPORTUNITY We have a great opportunity for a Senior Structural Field Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at Henderson – WA reporting to the Structural Production Engineering Manager. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working. As the Senior Structural Field Engineer for Production Engineering Support you will be responsible for providing accurate, safe, on-time and to budget, technical engineering reviews, recommendations and leadership to resolve shipbuilding issues and enable production trades within your domain. Key responsibilities include: Under limited supervision perform technical investigations and assessments to resolve a wide range of engineering issues arising during ship build. Provide regular status and reporting of production issues to the relevant supervisors and project authorities, as required. Triage production issues and direct work assignments, scheduling, and reviews of work in progress. Work within an engineering team and provide technical leadership, coaching & mentoring of others, and likely lead a team of engineers and para-professionals. Undertake technical reviews, verify and approve production engineering repair dispositions from a structural perspective. Liaise with the broader Hunter Class Frigate Project team and provide an interface between the production engineering team, management, operations stakeholders and where required subject matter experts. About YOU Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline. Significant experience as a professional Engineer, with demonstrated experience in structural engineering as a professional Engineer, preferably within Naval/ Maritime, Defence or Allied Industry is considered desirable. Design experience with both Steel and Aluminium Structures is considered desirable. Team leadership and/or delegated authority expertise is considered desirable. Experience with common engineering tools such as CAD, FEA and PLM software's are considered desirable. Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain a Baseline Clearance. Significant experience as a professional engineer and able to work under limited supervision whilst applying technical knowledge to a range of products and issues. Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with excellent customer relations skills.
