Position Number: 0064755,0064756,0064757,0064758 - Multiple Positions Available Location: ParkvilleRole type: Part-time (0.6 FTE); ContinuingFaculty: ArtsSchool: Culture and CommunicationSalary: Level A – $83,468 – $113,262 p.a. plus 17% super About the Role The Creative Writing program within the School of Culture and Communication seeks to appoint Senior Tutors with the capacity to teach in undergraduate and/or graduate-level creative writing subjects in the following areas: Screenwriting Fiction Creative Nonfiction Critical-creative Writing Practices The successful applicant will be a committed and engaging educator with experience in teaching at tertiary level. While there is some flexibility in the breakdown of work activity, a Level A Education Focussed Senior Tutor should expect approximately 80% of their time to be devoted to teaching, with the remainder committed to administration, service and, where relevant, scholarship. Your responsibilities will include: Support subject coordinators in the successful delivery of teaching to a high standard Prepare and conduct tutorials, seminars and, where appropriate, lectures Prepare, administer and mark assessments in accordance with subject guidelines in the University Handbook Where required, contribute to the development of course and subject material Where relevant, scholarly activity appropriate to the current classification level, to support, enable and disseminate teaching practice within the discipline Who We Are Looking For We are seeking a PhD-qualified academic with expertise in at least one identified area of creative writing and a growing record of innovative, impactful publications. You will bring effective teaching practices, the ability to develop engaging educational resources, and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments for diverse student cohorts. You will also have: A completed PhD in a relevant discipline, with a demonstrated specialisation in at least one of the identified areas A developing record of innovative and impactful creative writing publications Demonstrated track record of effective teaching and learning practices and an ability to develop educational resources Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the learning orientations of a diverse student cohort, combined with the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding to create inclusive learning environments Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage one’s own time effectively, administer multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines successfully Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures relevant to teaching and student support and welfare This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
