Senior and Principal Analysts, System Risk Expand your horizons! Exciting opportunities to help APRA fulfill its purpose of promoting the safety and stability of the Australian financial system and protecting the financial wellbeing of the community.APRA’s approach to regulation is underpinned by key strengths, including a system-wide perspective in identifying emerging risks to financial stability, assessing interconnections between sectors and determining appropriate actions. A dedicated System Risk branch assesses the operating environment through financial system, geopolitical and economic lenses. The branch works collaboratively with financial and non-financial risk specialists. The roles The System Risk branch, part of APRA’s Cross-industry Risk Division, is evolving to help meet its purpose of identifying, assessing, and responding to financial system vulnerabilities and risks, and ultimately deliver key outcomes that are aligned with APRA’s Corporate Plan. We are recruiting for several Principal and Senior Analyst roles across three of our teams: Macroprudential Policy team – develop and analyse APRA’s macroprudential policy tools and frameworks. The role involves bringing thought leadership to support policy decision making through economic and quantitative research and analysis. Financial System Risk team – studying the flow of risks and vulnerabilities throughout the financial system to understand interconnections and gaps. The role involves bringing thought leadership to the identification, research and analysis of risks and vulnerabilities relevant to the financial sector, including banking, superannuation and insurance. Stress Testing team – delivery of APRA’s stress testing program across banking, super and insurance sectors and contribution to APRA’s first financial system risk stress test. The role involves high quality financial analysis and reporting of stress testing results and insights to internal and external stakeholders. You will be actively involved in helping the System Risk branch deliver on its purpose by ‘connecting the dots’ and collaborating with a range of risk and financial system specialists. The roles will provide opportunities to engage with other international and domestic government agencies and industry bodies and contribute across APRA. About you Applications are encouraged from motivated and experienced individuals with the following technical and behavioural skillsets: Proven ability to bring a broader perspective, distil a broad range of information, take a strategic view, connect the dots and identify vulnerabilities, risks and interconnections when preparing and delivering analysis Proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders, and execute for outcomes Proven interest in and experience of the financial system, key financial sectors (e.g. banking, superannuation and insurance) and the broader economy Strong analytical skills, including the ability to derive insights through data Adept at engaging, influencing and negotiating, self-motivated, curious with a growth mindset, capable of strong critical thinking and judgement Comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity, and willing to embrace change For some roles, experience in superannuation, stress testing methodology and process, and financial and economic analysis or modelling is desirable.
