Your role As an experienced Services and Programs Officer (SAPO) at St Heliers Correctional Centre, you will lead the delivery of programs designed to reduce reoffending, drive positive behaviour change, and support the overall well-being of individuals who are incarcerated. Working within the Muswellbrook community, you’ll be guided by the local directorate while partnering closely with our Strategy & Policy branch to uphold high standards in program facilitation and service. Through effective program delivery, you will directly contribute to addressing factors associated with offending and support positive change in behaviour, playing a vital role in our broader mission. What you’ll do Conduct inductions, assessments, support, case management, and reporting. Facilitate group programs for people under supervision, focusing on positive behaviour change. Implement strategies and programs that promote well-being and ensure safety for individuals under supervision and the community. Provide individual interventions for individuals as required. Respond to critical situations by offering information, expertise, support, and referrals. Assist inmates with pre-release planning. Document and maintain case notes for all individuals. Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including those incarcerated, families, multidisciplinary staff, and partnering agencies. Build networks with internal and external agencies to support positive outcomes for individuals incarcerated. What we’re looking for Experience as a Service & Programs officer Strong understanding of transition factors affecting individuals in the centre and their families. Skilled in assessment, case management, and intervention with individuals demonstrating complex behaviours and attitudes. Experience and/or proven ability to deliver group-based interventions. In-depth knowledge of areas including drug and alcohol dependence, domestic violence, pro-criminal behaviours, and evidence-based interventions. The ideal candidate will: Feel confident in leading group and individual sessions with diverse individuals who may display challenging behaviours. Act with integrity and resilience in response to challenges. Complete the Certificate IV in Correctional Practice. Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health or other human service fields; and/or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with family, social, and/or drug and alcohol related issues. Current driver licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSW. Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident for ongoing appointments.
