Job Description

The Queensland Police Service's award-winning Media and Public Affairs team is dedicated to keeping Queensland safe and informed. You will manage a team of media professionals driving community engagement, using innovative social media strategies and best practice and expanding the online digital presence of frontline police across the state. You will deliver media and external communications strategies on behalf of the QPS, working closely with a talented team of creative professionals on local policing initiatives, campaigns and proactive content. As part of this role, you'll also collaborate with internal stakeholders to support organisational change and key QPS projects and initiatives. Your Key Accountabilities: Lead the social media communications and engagement team, building contemporary social media capabilities across the team and coordinating day-to-day operations. Lead the development, implementation and evolution of the organisation's social media engagement strategy, style guidelines and governance procedures to achieve effective online engagement with Queensland communities. Provide specialist advice to QPS members on social media and online communications. Oversee the development and design of engaging social media content for varying online audiences across the team. Develop plans and resources to help team members confidently engage in online discussion across varying social media platforms, promote crime prevention initiatives and publish important information on public safety matters. Work collaboratively with senior members of the QPS digital intelligence, Media and Public Affairs and Crime Prevention teams to execute operational and organisational objectives. Coordinate and deliver social media training opportunities for relevant internal staff to ensure consistency of tone and approach to social media engagement. Role Requirements: Mandatory Nil. However, formal qualifications and/or experience in communications, media and/or marketing will be favourably considered. Other Inter/Intra state travel may be required.
