Community and Demographics: Mordialloc College is located immediately adjacent to the eastern beaches of Port Phillip Bay and enjoys excellent bus and rail access to neighbouring municipalities. A diverse range of families from mixed demographics and an SFOE of 0.2791. The school has grown significantly over the last seven years. Our whole school enrolments is just over 1200 students including international students. The school population will stabilise at this number as we will only be taking 200 students into Year 7 in future years. Gender mix across the College is slightly uneven with male students comprising 58%, although in some year levels it is a 50/50 split. Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to consistently provide evidenced based best practice in a professional environment and service delivery that is consistent with Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of language and literacy difficulties in adolescence and its impact on academic success and social, emotional wellbeing. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills as evidenced by collaborative relationships with students, families and staff. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver inclusive Response to Intervention (RTI) speech therapy support and intervention in a school environment. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver professional learning, for teachers and other relevant professionals, in the area of language and communication. Demonstrate capacity to work within the Programs for Students with Disabilities / Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) framework and an understanding of the processes, adjustments and assessments involved. Appropriate tertiary qualifications and experience in Speech Pathology and a commitment to update and extend knowledge and skills repertoire. Responsibilities Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients. Ensure all external providers deliver the required service. Mordialloc College Student Services is made up of a dedicated team of ES and teaching staff including a psychologist, speech pathologist, youth counsellors, school nurse, Disability Inclusion team, and Integration Aides. Mordialloc College Student Services has a key focus on meeting every student at their point of need, and to deliver on this commitment we are looking to add to our Student Services team. The Speech Pathologist will support students who present with a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on literacy/language assessment and intervention, Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) support, implementation of neuroaffirming social groups and professional development of staff across the College. To maximize outcomes, for our students, an essential part of this role is effective communication with students, families, Education Support and teaching staff, and external agencies.
