(Job Overview) The Retail Engineering team is an organization in charge of Retail Business support and selection sourcing of retail products, an important axis of Coupang's eCommerce business. The team supports various retail businesses through Supplier Hub, a portal site for suppliers, and Retail Contract Center (RCC) Platform services for retail business operators. The team aims to accelerate growth, increase profitability and improve the productivity of the Retail business, and global extension. On the technical side, the team guarantees a highly available, reliable, and expandable system to make the best supplier experience and get the best retail selection. (Roles and Mission) As a Staff Backend Engineer for Retail Engineering, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the retail ecosystem. Retail Engineering is pursuing to manage retail selection sourcing in a more efficient and data-driven manner systematically providing technical support to support the business, and we are recruiting new team members to build Selection Pipeline Management. Selection Pipeline Management will be a tool for managing relationships between Coupang and Retail Suppliers and will be applied and expanded to selection expansion and BM sales support. You will collaborate closely with the PO to find the optimal solution for retail business expansion and build and operate the system in a global team. (Responsibilities) Provide leadership and technical direction and ensure that our engineers are working on building scalable and fault-tolerant systems. The bar raiser of across group level tech engineering teams to lift team’s engineering / operational excellence with best practice. Engage with senior leadership and product owner(s) in developing and executing technical strategy and product roadmap ensuring scalability and simplicity. Prioritize and plan the projects and features sponsored by senior leadership, stakeholders and strategically important tech initiatives. Refine and set the vision for the overall architecture plan and application of best practice architecture, design patterns and ongoing simplification of the system landscape. Foster a culture that continuously innovates through frequent product iterations (Agile/Scrum) and help the team develop their Agile practices further. Own definition, measurement, and reporting of operational metrics. Establish and run the operational support for your team’s software. Communicate clearly and concisely with the team members, peers and leadership team. (Basic Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of industry experience Experience of large distributed system Ability to solve problems through creative thinking and partnerships with other teams Ability to attain challenging targets through goal-setting and personal drive Ability to drive consensus between stakeholders through skilled communication Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
