Staff/Lead Network Engineer (Quality Engineering) You are highly experienced lead network engineer in building customer focused solutions We are a growing team within the bank and constantly involved in industry changing solutions Together we place customers at the centre of what we do Do work that matters The purpose of this role is to provide quality engineering leadership to drive excellence, quality and performance for an IT service, across one or multiple portfolios. The role has active responsibility to support the quality engineering and utilisation of standardised IT services to promote business value and accountability to support and maintain the utility of provided services and meet the ongoing technology requirements for business, projects and IT stakeholders. This role is required to effectively build and maintain relationships with: Senior managers (EM and GM) Solution Architects, Design Specialists, Business Analysts and Solution Delivery Managers in a project context Global Technology Product Owners and Chapter leads Third party vendors that provide technology services for the group. See yourself in our team The Network Quality Engineering team is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance and quality of network services across the bank. The GTS Network Quality engineering team is responsible for delivering, supporting and continuously improving the quality of the Bank’s Global Network and Security services. Our Global Technology Services (GTS) products and services are leveraged across all Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software including: CommBank App, Netbank, CommSee, CommSec, CommBiz and Commbank.com.au. You will be reporting directly to a chapter lead as part of the Global Technology Services business unit. Your wider team consists of multiple squads in the Engineering disciplines of Network Security, Partner Connectivity, Workload Connectivity, Software Defined Network, Cloud Networking, Network Automation and Workforce Connectivity. Core Responsibilities: Execute and support the Global Technology Services business unit with design, quality engineering and testing of network security, to provide business value across multiple programmes and initiatives. Identify and mitigate issues or risks associated with the network security design or solution proposals. Champion engineering principles, patterns, standards and guidelines across projects and programmes. Support the development of the test strategy and test design for the products and services within networks. Provide quality engineering leadership for other engineers and team members. Contribute to the strategy, roadmap and architecture across all Network services. Provide technical consulting and advice to projects to ensure alignment to quality engineering practice. Champion quality engineering principles, patterns, standards and guidelines across projects and programmes. Provide feedback on the effectiveness of target solution architecture. Work within a team environment and across business units to complete associated tasks. Identify and develop test plans for emerging Technology that may benefit the Group’s strategic direction. Tech Skills: We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team: Mandatory knowledge and demonstrated understanding in design of routing technologies such as EVPN, BGP, OSPF, Multicast, Anycast, BFD, ECMP, Traffic load balance, NAT etc. Very good understanding and working experience in core switching technologies. Mandatory knowledge and demonstrated experience of Cisco Switches (Nexus and IOS), Routers and Firewalls. Working experience in Datacentre technologies Spine and Leaf architecture, VXLAN, EVPN, Underlay, Overlay, MP-BGP, Border Leaf, Router server architecture. Network orchestration tools experience DCNM, NDFC. Good understanding and hands-on experience in Cisco Nexus switches and NX-OS architecture, Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR. Specialized knowledge of test development and design methodologies. Network scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Python, NSO, Yang, Terraform, JSON Script. Experience in leading a small team of Engineers. Discovery and validation of network connectivity requirements using enterprise tools such as Algosec, Splunk and AWS VPC flow logs, R53, Cloud redirect and Cloudfront, SolarWinds, Qualys, and Infoblox. Author and maintain detailed testing documents, ensuring accuracy and representation of test design and test plans and test scripts of network testing for CBA’s network services and devices. Flexibility in working hours to accommodate after hour changes. Desirable experience in F5 GTM, LTM, and Azure/AWS network security group enforcement policies and firewall management. Mentoring of Engineers across multiple technologies.
