The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Strategic Education and Engagement co-op student for the Summer 2025 work term (May to August) to provide communications and event management support for our client and employee education and engagement program. The Strategic Education and Engagement co-op assists with the development, planning, and execution of client and employee education programs, events, and materials that build a deeper understanding of BCI’s corporate strategies and investment-related matters. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH The Strategic Education and Engagement team is part of the larger Strategic Communications team in Corporate & Investor Relations. The Strategic Communications team works closely with BCI’s Client Relations team and others to provide clients with high-quality service and deliverables – always working to build long-term relationships based on trust and to ensure that we exceed our clients’ investment performance and service expectations. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Support the efforts of the Strategic Communications team to proactively ensure that BCI exceeds our clients’ service expectations. Assist in the planning and execution of client and employee education events and offerings, including virtual webcasts and conferences, in-person workshops, and due diligence tours. Develop a strong understanding of client needs, the specific communication objectives for various institutional investors (e.g., pensions funds, insurance funds, and special purpose funds), and contribute to the delivery of associated communication plans. Develop client-ready responses to their requests – understand individual client needs/concerns and be able to tailor a response. Support the preparation of presentations, invitations, articles or other content related to client and internal BCI events in accordance with the BCI visual brand. THE IDEAL STUDENT Has a keen interest in communications, marketing, business, or financial journalism. Has experience with event planning and delivery. Is a strong writer able to create compelling content. Able to think creatively and critically to effectively communicate complex topics in a simple but compelling way. Likes to solve problems using creative and innovative solutions. Demonstrates an extremely strong work ethic and displays initiative to strive to deliver value above and beyond the job description. Has relevant prior co-op experience. Preference will be given to students who have shown initiative and a passion for the investment industry. REQUIRED SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to create clear and concise communication materials for digital and print platforms. Impeccable attention to detail. Strong interpersonal, time management, and project management skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities. Able to work with senior investment professionals in a dynamic, performance-driven environment. Competitive pay: Mid / Back Office:$2,260.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,090.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary. Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location. THE DETAILS Work term: Summer 2025 (May to August). Department: Corporate & Investor Relations. Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC. Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island. All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
