About the role: We’re looking for a Supervising Producer to join our 7 Tasmania News team based in Launceston. You’ll be a senior member of our editorial team and have the newsroom experience to step into most roles. You will be a local news junkie with strong editorial judgment whose multi-skilled background means you are equally at ease reporting in the field, assigning crews and journalists, assembling stories into a rundown, editing copy, and producing live bulletins. Reporting to the Director of News, the Supervising Producer will help manage, coach and provide guidance to news employees and perform as a member of the news management team. What you’ll be doing: Help oversee daily news production requirements. Produce dynamic news bulletins, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of content. Produce news special events. Story writing and editing. Actively contribute to editorial decisions. Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive, team-oriented culture. Assist in evaluating, leading, and mentoring staff to promote peak performance and efficiency. Perform other supervisory and essential functions as assigned. Experience we’re looking for: A passion for news , with a keen eye for the issues that matter to our audience. Proven experience as a television news producer with an in-depth understanding of the production process. Exceptional news judgment , combined with strong writing and copy-editing skills. Ability to multi-task and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Experience leading and collaborating with team members and with other news leaders. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
