At Churches of Christ, we are looking for a dedicated Support Practitioner – Fostering to join our Children, Youth & Families team. In this role, you will work closely with foster and kinship carers, ensuring they have the resources, training, and emotional support needed to provide safe and nurturing homes. Why Join Us? Flexible Work – Provide in-home and community-based support. What You’ll Do: Recruit, assess, and support foster and kinship carers. Provide crisis intervention, training, and ongoing case management. Ensure culturally safe, trauma-informed, and child-centered care. Facilitate the delivery of evidence-based parenting programs to parents and carers. Conduct home visits to assess, support, and guide carers in providing quality care. Generate comprehensive assessment reports regarding carers’ suitability and needs. Collaborate with community agencies and referral partners to strengthen networks. Maintain accurate records and contribute to case planning and service improvements. Provide after-hours and on-call support on a rotational basis as required. What You’ll Need: Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field , more than 4 years’ experience and minimum Certificate III Community Services (or equivalent experience). Understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including the Child Protection Act 1999. One year’s experience working with children, young people, and families in a child protection or community service context. Experience working with First Nations people. Ability to complete assessments for care and provide practical support to foster carers. Strong knowledge of the contemporary challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Current driver’s licence – P2 minimum. Current National Police Certificate, Working with Children (Blue Card), Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS) – or the ability to acquire.
