Overview of our role Join us in an exciting 2-year fixed-term opportunity with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent position. We are looking for a dedicated and collaborative System Specialist to play a key role in replacing our end-of-life Hydrocarbon Accounting solution, with a next-generation system (HCAS). This critical investment is designed to enhance our people, processes, and technology, delivering an innovative HCAS solution encompassing business operations and technology. Following the implementation phase, you’ll join our operational team, contributing to the long-term success and evolution of HCAS. What You'll Do Collaborate on the design, build, and delivery of the HCAS solution, ensuring it meets immediate business needs while setting the foundation for future regulatory and operational requirements. Map and analyse existing data structures and topologies, enabling a seamless transition to the new system. Develop a deep understanding of the HCAS system and establish yourself as a Subject Matter Expert to support the project. Streamline key business processes such as gas scheduling, order management, reporting, and billing processes by leveraging the power of HCAS. A little about you We’re looking for a candidate with a strong background in the gas or energy sector who thrives in dynamic, data-driven environments. This role is ideal for someone who combines technical expertise with analytical thinking and enjoys working on impactful projects. Expertise in gas or energy markets, particularly in pipeline scheduling, order management, reporting, and billing. Experience in engineering, accounting, or technology design roles, showcasing the ability to transform complex operational requirements into effective technical or software solutions. Strong skills in system design and data analysis, with experience mapping and interpreting complex datasets. Advanced Excel skills, enabling the development of sophisticated calculation solutions and reporting frameworks. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organization, from frontline staff to senior leadership. Demonstrated ability to manage time-critical tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment, either independently or as part of a collaborative team. Qualifications / Certifications & Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data analysis and solution development. SQL and PowerBi is good to have but not essential. Python is essential to be successful in this role. Ability to apply critical thinking to analyse, solve, and interpret complex business or technical information for diverse audiences. Strong knowledge of the Australian energy transmission market, including regulatory requirements for gas pipelines. Familiarity with Jemena’s gas transmission operations is an advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Confidence and competence in using the Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Word. Experience with Microsoft Project is a bonus.
