TAS Assistant (Food Technology and Kitchen Assistant & Administration) Oakhill College is an Independent Catholic Secondary School conducted in the Lasallian tradition, with an enrolment of 2,200 students, boys Years 7 to 10, co-educational in Years 11 and 12. Applications are invited for the following position: TAS Assistant (Food Technology and Kitchen Assistant & Administration)3 days per week (7.30 am – 3.30 pm Tues -Thurs)Temporary Part-Time Position The Food Technology Assistant supports teachers with class preparation, assists during classes, manages cleaning, laundry, ordering and receiving supplies, and oversees the periodic maintenance of equipment. Additionally, they assist with catering for select College events. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the kitchen team, improving kitchen efficiency, and delivering professional service in a fast-paced school environment. This temporary part-time role offers 22.8 hours per week over three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, primarily during term time, providing a great work-life balance with approximately 38 weeks of work per year. We are looking for a flexible and adaptable candidate who can positively contribute to our school community and embody our values in all aspects of the role. The TAS Assistant (Kitchen Administration) will: Provide kitchen assistance and support to the TAS faculty, ensuring all practicals and demonstrations run smoothly. Offer prompt, courteous, efficient, and friendly service to students and staff. Manage food orders and shopping, ensuring that supplies are available for upcoming classes. Set up classes, ensuring all necessary ingredients, equipment and utensils are in place. Liaise with the Academic Head of VET Pathways to plan for upcoming recipes, taking note of any changes in routine or special requirements. Regularly check with teachers regarding upcoming recipes and any changes to plans. Collate recipes and determine the correct food quantities based on class sizes. Perform general kitchen duties such as food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen hygiene. Assist with any other duties as required by the TAS faculty or/ and other heads of departments. The successful applicant will demonstrate: Previous experience in kitchen assistance or a similar role, ideally within an educational setting. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to service. High standards of cleanliness and food safety practices. A proactive attitude and a willingness to adapt to changing needs within the kitchen environment.
