This position is an ongoing position. The School for Student Leadership (Trading as The Alpine School) is a unique year-nine specialist school with a focus on leadership education. The school has been operating for 24 years and has hosted over 10,000 students. All campuses are in regional Victoria and include: Gnurad-Gundidj Campus, Noorat-Glenormiston. Forty-five students live, learn, work, play, recreate, and undertake adventures at the schools in a highly supported leadership education program. The school has modeled the educational program on an Experiential Education model, with a project/inquiry learning and social-enterprise focus. A highly developed curriculum relates to the Victorian Curriculum F-10 Capabilities and includes an extensive outdoor, environmental, and adventure education program. Core Moral Purpose The core moral purpose of the school includes: Best practice middle years education. Understanding the implications of a student-centered approach to education. Recognizing the importance of a contemporary interpretation of adolescent development. Roles and Responsibilities Specific to the Setting The role requires a flexible, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach. Responsibilities include: Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students. Contributing to the development and evaluation of curriculum areas. Participating in parent/teacher meetings and school activities. Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies. SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in specified curriculum areas.
