MEA is currently seeking a motivated and proactive individual to join our Operations team as Technical Advisor (Electrical) on a full-time basis. The Role: Providing effective and accurate technical advice to members in a professional and timely manner Liaise with other organisations to disseminate technical information to the electrical industry In conjunction with other MEA team members advise, assist and formulate technical policy and recommendations to the GM Operations as required Assist in the preparation of guidance materials, briefings, information and advice on all technical matters Participate in Events, Briefings and Information Seminars and other appropriate training and presentation functions as required Identify possible future issues and develop appropriate technical policies and responses Advise the MEA membership on State and Federal legislation including but not limited to, Electrical Safety Act and Regulation, Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulation, Electricity Act and Electricity Licensing Regulation, Codes of Practice Represent MEA on external boards, committees and organisations as required Demonstration of strong customer service and communication skills that maintain our current high level of service and information to members We Offer: Competitive Remuneration A flexible approach to work with hybrid options (up to 2 days a week WFH) Stability and security within a respected, member-focused organisation Support and guidance from an experienced team An environment where great work is recognised and rewarded Ability to purchase additional annual leave Wellness initiatives including 'MEdays' - 1 extra day leave gifted per quarter and an Employee Assistance program (EAP) Daily breakfast Optional RDO’s (monthly)(opt-in) To join the team you will have gained significant experience in the electrical field, have an in-depth understanding of Electrical Safety Standards and legislation and be able to provide advice on the following: Application of AS/NZS standards including (but not limited to) AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, AS/NZS 4777, AS/NZS 3008, AS/NZS 4836, AS/NZS 3012, AS/NZS 3017, AS/NZS 3760 Advise on relevant legislation, regulations, wiring rules, codes of practice, network operator requirements, and/or industry practices as well as state-based legislation that relate to electrical work Assist members with industry regulator and WH&S investigations You will also have the following qualifications: Recognised Australian Electrical Trade qualification (mandatory) / electrical mechanic (highly desirable) SAA accredited solar installer / High level of experience with solar installations & the requirements of their standards (highly desirable) Electrical experience in a broad range of backgrounds such as domestic, commercial, industrial, solar, batteries, communications, A/C refrigeration We are committed to facilitating a barrier-free recruitment process and work environment.
