About the role ENVR is experiencing an unprecedented period of growth with many projects in the pipeline requiring engineering leadership for design and delivery. We require an experienced engineer to come on board and be part of the journey of business growth and forge out a legacy! Reporting to the director, your role will be ENVR’s Principal Design and Project Engineer where you will lead the design, planning and delivery of all our projects, as well as collaborate with our local and international partners. We would also be relying on your past experience and expertise in similar roles to provide overall input into our business development and growth - think of this as a greenfield role that you can bring your experience and skills to help shape our business. This is a part-time or full-time role, with a minimum of 20 hours per week that you could spread over 5 days or condense to just 4 or 3 days to suit your needs. You will be primarily based in ENVR’s Brisbane office, however, there can be trips to our project locations such as: Darwin, rural and remote NT, Queensland islands as well as other regional areas and the Pilbara region in Western Australia. Employment type Part-time (20 hours) or Full-time Flexible work from home and office Hours/days Flexible Where you’ll be working Stafford, Brisbane with frequent trips to our project locations Work from home flexibility will also be available. Main duties and responsibilities Oversee and carry out project design activities including: Wastewater treatment process specification to meet defined water quality release limit targets Identify, characterise and validate project design criteria including hydraulic and organic loading Wastewater treatment plant design and delivery Land applications areas design and delivery Recycle water reuse schemes design and delivery Coordinate the initiation of projects including: Safety in design review, preparation of project management plans, project budgets and records Oversee the safe, efficient and successful implementation of project construction programs and liaise with all stakeholders including: suppliers, clients, regulators, site supervisors and other subcontractors. Oversee project delivery and closure including obtaining all necessary approvals and certification including RPEQ signoff Manage and coordinate consultants, stakeholders, teams, and contractors across a variety of project delivery disciplines Prepare and produce a range of AutoCAD drawings, reports, proposals, documents, spreadsheets, cost estimates and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Additional duties and responsibilities Provide engineering input and oversight into the management and administration of projects and subcontractors including interfacing clients, consultants, suppliers and relevant authorities Support and carry out procurement of equipment and services in accordance with ENVR’s procedures Support the coordination of resource allocation across multiple projects to ensure suitable coverage for construction and operation of ENVR’s wastewater treatment solutions Keep abreast of advances and innovations in the decentralised wastewater treatment industry by self-education and engagements with industry and professional industry events Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in engineering delivery processes Drive awareness of sustainable and efficient design practices within the team Foster a strong safety culture by driving awareness of Safety in Design processes ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. Experience and qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering. MIEAust or IChemE equivalent, CPEng, and RPEQ. Strong expertise in water and wastewater treatment processes, including hydraulic design ideally in an engineering consultancy High proficiency in computer-aided design software, such as AutoCAD and 12D, and possess strong time management and project analysis skills Technical skills across a broad range of areas within water and/or wastewater treatment/process disciplines. Strong technical writing skills are imperative, as is the ability to communicate with and relate to a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to submit technical reports to a high standard requiring minimal correction and provide final review of project reports. A proactive approach to safety and risk management, with experience in HAZOPs and safety reviews Previous involvement in wastewater treatment projects, especially with government regulations, is highly regarded Excellent relationship-building skills, contributing to business opportunities and successful project delivery Demonstrated experience in applying value engineering practices and principles. Demonstrated experience in Project Management and Design Management is desirable Demonstrated experience in Design Management, Design Review and review of infrastructure standards Class C Driver's Licence; and General Construction Induction Training Card. Ideally, you’re someone who Has the ability to understand, analyse and interpret designs, operational data, policies, regulations, standards, and guidelines, and draw on their experience to make design and project delivery decisions. Along with experience in a similar role and your enthusiasm to deliver and see things through, you will also bring with you: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and or RPEQ as recognised by Engineers Australia (or international equivalent) preferred (obtained or on track to obtain) Knowledge of the relevant OHS codes, standards and legislation. Be a leader in establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture. Demonstrated leadership, drive, initiative, creativity and a high level of personal motivation. High level verbal and written communication skills to liaise with multiple disciplinary teams, project managers, clients, superintendents and consultants. Demonstrated Project Management skills Clear customer focus when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated commitment to excellence. Understanding of commercial contracts and be able to manage, formulate and track individual budgets. Broad knowledge of standards and specifications, including relevant QLD and NT Codes necessary for the design and construction of ENVR’s wastewater treatment projects including knowledge of legislation related to the Water Industry Ability to understand the impacts of decisions on cost, other stakeholders and customers. Good negotiation skills on matters such as contractors' claims, variations and commercial disputes, refer to the relevant escalation point. Understanding and appreciation of environmental issues relating to the design and construction wastewater treatment projects.
