Mining Technology, Industrial Technology, Consumer Electronics, Medical… Technical Lead – C++ / Rust IIoT Edge Our client is a leading player in the Mining Technology sector, offering innovative solutions and industry expertise to enhance the sustainability and safety of operations in mining and material movement. With R&D offices in Brisbane and throughout the world, this role is based at their Brisbane office, in Brisbane’s inner southside. The successful candidate will enjoy a "hands-on" leadership role, working in a collaborative, Agile environment. They are looking for a person who can apply their software engineering skills to lead the design implementation of innovative applications, taking advantage of cutting-edge technologies in the areas of edge computing and IIoT. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a small team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Design, architect, and implement edge computing services. Lead development teams on technical design and implementation, as well as on developing test scenarios and test cases. Analyze code and application execution for optimization and performance tuning. Take a hands-on approach to identifying and mitigating technical risks. Mentor and guide team members, promoting a collaborative and innovative environment. Qualifications and Skills: A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Minimum 5+ years of practical, full-time experience developing and maintaining edge or embedded software on Linux. Strong C++ background and any experience with Python and/or Rust beneficial. Experience mentoring and leading other engineers. Experience with Yocto and AWS IoT Core would be beneficial but not essential. Experience developing microservices using asynchronous messaging technologies such as ZeroMQ, ActiveMQ, MQTT etc. You consider yourself an authority on modern agile development best practices. Pipelines and a CI/CD mindset. A preference for clarity and simplicity over unnecessary complexity. Must be an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a valid work visa.
