Temporary opportunity until December 2025 Full-time hours (35 hours/per week) Based at Australian Botanic Garden – Mount Annan Salary relative to experience and ranges from $67,204 to $98,096 + super The role Join a dynamic team dedicated to plant conservation and research at the Australian Plant Bank at Mount Annan. This hands-on role combines lab-based experiments with field trips to collect and process plant material, contributing directly to vital scientific programs. You'll work on propagation, germination studies, and data collection while supporting the smooth operation of our nursery and lab facilities. With opportunities to innovate and tackle conservation challenges, this role is perfect for those passionate about preserving Australia’s unique plant diversity. What you will bring to the role Passion for Plant Conservation: A strong interest in plant research with relevant qualifications in botany, ecology, or horticulture. Technical Expertise: Experience in laboratory and field techniques, including seed collection, propagation, and germination experiments. Field Work Capability: Ability to conduct remote fieldwork, collecting and processing plant materials in diverse environments. Problem-Solving Skills: A proactive approach to resolving challenges in research and conservation projects. Teamwork and Safety Focus: Effective collaboration in multidisciplinary teams, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment. What is an essential requirement: TAFE or equivalent qualifications in Horticulture or Plant Science Demonstrated experience in field-based sampling and collection of plant materials. Experience in scientific data collection, manipulation and management. Capacity to conduct field and laboratory-based research. Current Australian Drivers licence and willingness to travel.
