We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Transportation Manager with experience in a similar role to join our high-performance International Flight Catering team based at our busy Melbourne Airport facility on a full-time basis. More about this role: This role is responsible for the management of daily fleet operations and servicing customer aircraft at Melbourne Airport. The role will lead a dedicated team of Airside Drivers, Supervisors, and Leading Hands, and be responsible for the coordination of time-sensitive planning, scheduling, and on-shift movements of specialised catering trucks. In a nutshell, your main responsibilities are: Manage multiple teams to provide accurate and timely service delivery to all of our international and domestic clients and aircraft. Manage, coach, and develop the team. Lead by example at all times. Lead Transportation department labour costs and manage associated budgets. Collaborate with Resource Coordinators and Workforce Planning to ensure coverage of all shifts across the Transportation department. Collaborate with all Customer Service Managers to ensure all operations and processes are aligned with achieving the best outcome for our Customers. Lead all transport and service delivery activities to ensure all flights are serviced according to Master Planning Schedules (MPS) and Customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while achieving On Time Performance (OTP). Coordinate and engage other departments to cover all critical interdependencies. Monitor the daily progress of the Master Planning Schedule and identify situations which may result in operational issues, and proactively follow up with recovery steps. Maintain effective control of the Fleet, ensuring daily care (regular vehicle checks, road-worthiness, zero defects, nil downtime) and long-term planning is scheduled (managing the assets) in conjunction with our Vehicle Coordinators/Mechanics. Be involved in any incident investigations, service delays or customer complaints. Find root causes, and ensure follow up with site Operations Manager/GM. Ensure transparent and regular communications with all relevant stakeholders. Be an Ambassador for and build a 'Safety First' culture within your team. Manage / complete any Hygiene, Quality or Food Safety Audits for your department. Adhere to any and all regulatory and standards compliance requirements. Review, analyse and report on weekly and monthly performance indicators. What do you need to be successful in securing this role? Demonstrated success in a similar role (Dispatch, Transportation or Fleet). Proven department head or higher level of experience to manage a team of 100+ staff. Substantial exposure to Transportation, Logistics or Freight Forwarding industries. Possess Leadership agility, diplomacy and ability to resolve complex problems. Flexibility to work both on the floor and in the office as required. High energy and results-driven with the ability to work across and within teams. Good understanding of Food Safety / WHS and quality assurance. Good PC skills and an ability to work with an automated time and attendance system and other business-related systems.
