The opportunity We are currently seeking a suitably experienced and qualified professional to join the team as a Utilities Coordinator. You will be responsible for coordinating and instructing the water and sewerage treatment and reticulation teams in the operation, maintenance, repair and upgrading of relevant systems to provide drinking water and treated effluent that meets industry, health and environmental best practice standards and legislative requirements. In this role you will: Coordinate the water treatment, sewage treatment and reticulation teams including plant, staff and materials to provide efficient use of resources and to provide optimum service to customers and provide expertise to team leaders in the management of issues; Coordinate operations, maintenance and repair programs for water mains and services, sewer mains and services, water meters, backflow protection, saleyards effluent system, and provide staff, plant and materials for the repair and upgrading of sewage and water supply pump stations, and water filtration and sewage treatment plants; Prepare and administer team rosters and arrange relief staff to cover staff leave and/or to resource any reactive, afterhours or emergency operational activities; Prepare team work plans and schedules and allocate duties to achieve work schedules in consultation with the Team Leaders and Engineering/Technical staff; Investigate, action/resolve and report on Customer Requests, or identified service problem areas/complaints; Coordinate and supervise water supply and sewerage capital works including compliance with design, connection to existing systems and recording of asset data; Coordinate and supervise contractors as required and ensure Contractor Management is adhered to and procurement process is followed at all times; Ensure that operational activities deliver required service levels and are efficient and effective and in accordance with current maintenance guidelines and specifications, Australian Standards and Legislative requirements; Assist in compiling information for completing the EPA Annual Returns and associated Annual Performance Reports, NSW Health Drinking Water Quality System Annual Reports and NSW DPE National Performance Reports; Perform other duties when required within Federation Council within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training. Criteria: Hold a qualification in plumbing or Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment or Water Industry Operation combined with relevant experience in the water and sewerage industry. Hold a qualification in Supervisory Certificate/Qualification or are willing to obtain one within 12 months of successful appointment to this role. Hold a Construction Induction Certificate (White Card), Confined spaces ticket and a current and valid class “C” driver’s licence. Demonstrated understanding of the provisions of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997. Demonstrated practical knowledge of WHS requirements including the ability to proactively manage risk and WH&S requirements within area or responsibility. Demonstrated ability to manage time, set priorities as well as plan and organise work for both self and team to achieve set objectives in the most efficient way possible within the available resources and timeframe. Demonstrated experience in supervising staff, allocating work and managing plant and materials. What we offer: An opportunity for you to grow and develop your skills. The salary is commencing at $1,791.00 per week with progression up to $1976.90 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
