Job ID: J1124-0361 (Please quote job ID on resume when applying) Department: Engineering & Regional Utilities Job Description The City of Abbotsford’s Engineering and Regional Utilities department is currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated professional to join their dynamic team as a full-time Utilities Environment Technologist I. In this exciting role, you will perform technical and administrative environmental work related to Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) wastewater discharges. Some of your responsibilities include: Inspections for compliance with bylaw requirements Regulatory compliance correspondence and reports Maintenance of data records and files Assisting with collection of ICI wastewater and biosolids samples This skilled position requires considerable knowledge of principles and practices of wastewater collection and pretreatment methods; wastewater and biosolids sampling techniques and laboratory analysis. Your technical experience along with your ability to prioritize, manage your time effectively and take initiative will make you an asset to the team. Educational Requirements In order to be considered for this position, you must have: A diploma in environmental sciences or related discipline with an emphasis on chemistry, environmental sciences or pollution control. Two years’ experience in an environmental or related field specific to the inspection of industrial and commercial businesses. Membership, or eligibility for membership in the Association of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C. at the technologist level. Valid BC Driver’s Licence Salary This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $38.55 to $45.34.
