The SEA4000-6 (the Project) is a strategically significant ACAT 1 project aimed at delivering advanced maritime capabilities for the Royal Australian Navy. As part of the MIWS SEA 4000 engineering team, this role contributes to the development of enhanced combat and support systems, including the Aegis Baseline 9 Combat Management System, the AusCMS AI System, and other critical communications and information systems. The technical objective of the Project is to deliver the Enhanced Destroyer Capability, integrating a range of sophisticated communications systems for operational success. This includes developing and implementing the necessary support systems to sustain the upgraded capabilities in service. As a Verification & Validation Engineer , you will play a crucial role in the engineering and validation of complex communications systems, both internal and external, across the ship's fleet information environment. You will work closely with the Communications Systems Integration (CSI)-Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and refine solutions, ensuring all systems meet user needs and comply with regulatory frameworks. Key Responsibilities: Perform complex communications engineering tasks under broad direction, contributing to the successful delivery of the project. Review and monitor work done by the CSI-IPT, ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks and government policy. Engage in the design and validation of internal and external communications systems, ensuring alignment with the sponsor's requirements. Work collaboratively with the CSI-IPT and other engineering teams to develop solutions for communications systems across the project lifecycle. Contribute to the integration and distribution of communication systems, ensuring robust and reliable performance within the Fleet Information Environment. Qualifications: A Bachelor of Engineering degree from an Australian institution (or equivalent qualification that satisfies the Washington Accord criteria for recognition as a Professional Engineer). Experience in communications systems engineering, with a focus on validation and verification. Knowledge of legislative frameworks and government decision-making in a Defence context. Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Preferred Skills: Previous experience with maritime communications systems. Familiarity with the Aegis Combat Management System or similar complex naval technologies. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to delivering technical solutions. Why Join Us?
